Need
advice on how to
choose the right system?
|
Foreword
We have definitely noticed the
change. The number one question used to be about the time it would take an
average nail technician to produce a professional set of nails. But over the
last few years, an ever growing army of Clients and Nail technicians now ask
us about the health and environment aspects of the products, and more directly,
are there any harmful chemicals in the products?
New
regulations in the USA and Europe, and ever more frequent critical Press,
are directly affecting the nail enhancement market. Many manufacturers, especially
those associated with the traditional Acrylic and Wrap (re-inforced fibreglass
or silk) systems, have launched new products or re-vised their procedures
in response to the criticism. The increasing consumer awareness and demand
for healthier and more environment friendly products is causing a revolution
in the industry. Unique Nailsystems' New Generation products represent the
leading-edge in polymer technology. They cover a range of nail enhancement
techniques to suit every nail technician.
Your Questions
| Is one system better than another? | |
|
All systems are designed to produce a set of nails. It really is a personal preference as to a best system. The system you feel most comfortable with is usually the best system for you. Each individual should try as many systems as possible. Remember that there is great variation in product performance between manufacturers. Even if you are happy with your present system, you should always be prepared to evaluate other products. You may be surprised how efficiencies can be made, just by changing one product.

|
| Is one Product better than another? | |
|
As with most things in life, you tend to pay more for quality. Generally, prices tend to reflect the refinement of the product and and compatibility of the product to work with the nail plate. Some technicians find they need to file very heavily for their product to perform but this will only cause problems later. Good quality products protect the nail plate. Also, expensive advertising campaigns add to the cost of all products.

|
| Do artificial nails damage the natural nail? | |
|
No, nail stylists do. The cause of most problems is due to poor or incomplete training. Properly trained and educated nail technicians will ensure healthly natural nails for all their clients. Their skills and professionalism will maintain and nourish the natural nails. A damaged or unhealthy nail plate is not the basis for beautiful nails.

|
| Do artificial nails need to be removed every 3 months to allow the nail to breathe? | |
|
No, nails do not breathe. This misconception is really a ruse by sales people to increase sales.
|
|
| There must be some harmful products, what are they? | |
|
Modern formulations are generally safe but some older acrylics use a primer which is an acid. Don't just go on your sense of smell. Although many systems have a strong odour similar to glue which is unpleasant in a closed environment, any product which contains volatile solvents will create vapours. Over exposure could exceed the safe working levels. Sensible working practices are required when using any nail enhancment product. All Unique Nailsystems New Generation Products have been classified as totally non toxic by the FDA in the USA. |
